Service Area

Craley Gate Services works in York and the surrounding area: the city, the townships around it, and the towns within a short drive.

York and the Townships Around It

The city of York and the townships around it are the center of our work. These ZIP codes cover the city and the parts of the surrounding townships that use York mailing addresses, including Spring Garden, Springettsbury, York, Manchester, West Manchester, Windsor and Hellam townships.

Farther Out: Call First

Local Conditions We Plan For

  • Old city lots. Narrow drives between brick houses, alleys and little room to the side: often a job for a slide gate or a bi-fold gate rather than a wide swing gate.
  • Hills. Many drives in and around York climb or drop from the street, which decides between swing gates, rising hinges and cantilever slide gates.
  • Township subdivisions. Wider drives, HOA rules on height, style and color, and permit offices that differ from town to town.
  • Rural properties. Long drives far from power, where a solar opener and a keypad at the road make sense, and gates that have to handle farm equipment or trailers.
  • Winter. Freeze-thaw, plowed snow and road salt everywhere in the county, which is why posts go below the frost line and tracks need a plan for snow. See the seasonal maintenance guide.

Service Area Questions

My town is not on the list. Can you still come?

Often, yes. The lists cover the places we reach most easily from York. If you are farther out, call (717) 670-8837 and tell us where the gate is and what it needs; for a new installation or a larger repair the drive is rarely the deciding factor, and if it does not make sense, we tell you so.

Do permit rules change from town to town?

Yes. In York County each municipality, the City of York and every borough and township, has its own zoning and permit process. Fence height in front yards, setbacks from the road and the sidewalk, and sight lines at drives and corners can all differ. We check what your municipality asks for when we go over the job.

Is the service area the same for repairs and new gates?

Mostly. New installations and maintenance visits are planned ahead, so towns farther out are easy to fit in. For an emergency repair, distance matters more, so call and we tell you honestly when we can be there.
